Hello Bright Light,
What's "Spiritual" Awakening really like?
Ultimately, the only person who can define what Awakening
means or describe what the experience will be like for you, is you!
But we can inspire, help, and support each other along the way.
I define Awakening as an ongoing transformative process through
which we ultimately wake up from our personal, ancestral, and
collective
imprinted beliefs in limitation, lack, and separation. We awaken into the
realization and embodiment of “Higher Self”, and the experience of
increased freedom from emotional reactivity, peace of mind,
and happiness
in daily living.
What ever is happening in your life today IS your spiritual path and
opportunity to awaken into more fully into the truth of who you are.
Awakening is a path and a process which can be experienced in so many
ways! For some, everything changes in a single moment when
inner silence and unfiltered beauty of Life remains primary, even in the
midst of day to day joys and challenges. For other, it may be that
they
have Awakened in certain parts of their lives, but still struggle in
others,
and perhaps don't even recognize the Awakened parts of themselves.
There was a moment on my path of Awakening, when my sense
of self transformed suddenly and dramatically into what I
experienced as “unity consciousness”. Though I have no words
to adequately describe it, in a single moment, my perception of
identity and reality itself, shifted and irrevocably changed.
At first, I felt profoundly disoriented because the “me” I had always
believed myself to be, and many cherished beliefs, simply vanished in
an instant. I remember waking up in the middle of the night having no
sense of a location. It felt more like being everywhere all at once and
the unfamiliarity of this unleashed an overwhelming rush of adrenaline
through my body. It took weeks and consistent grounding practices for my
system to adjust to this and other effects of that shift.
Many of the realizations and joys, and especially challenging effects
(such as the initial disorientation I mentioned), of the Awakening process
can be easier to accept and integrate when understood as evidence of
a much larger and ultimately desirable process.
To stabilize and integrate big shifts in consciousness, it can
help to have resources, support, and assistance along the
way, especially through uncomfortable or difficult places.
For a period of time after that pivotal shift in my Awakening process, I
continued to feel disoriented and ungrounded. I knew I needed more
support to integrate that change in perception. Gratefully this support
showed up in the form of a private Facebook group of folks who identified
as living “post-awakening”.
Some phases of Awakening can feel like stepping into another world.
During such times we can benefit greatly from mirroring, sharing, and
guidance that others who have had similar experiences can provide. During
that time, it was stabilizing to have that group to go to ask questions and
share experiences!
In time, the group host, Marianne, inspired by fascinating conversations
happening in the comment threads decided to
invite group participants to
contribute to a book project to talk about our experiences.
I’m thrilled to be a contributing author to her book, What is
Awakening Really Like: Twenty Ordinary People Talk about Life
Beyond the Spiritual Search by Marianne Broug, a compilation of
how others have described their Awakening experiences and what’s
life is like on the other side of a significant Awakening.

What are the best practices, favorite resources, or tools you draw on to stay grounded and supported on your path of Awakening. If you are a practitioner, coach or healer, what do you recommend to your clients? I'd love to know.
Best wishes for gentleness on your path of Awakening today,
