Too much activity can lead to overwork, burnout, and anxiety.
Too much stillness can lead to stagnation, limitation, and depression.
How do you know when it’s time for you (or those you serve) to push off from the riverbank, and into the current of life?
How do you know when it’s time for you (or those you serve) to pull off into a quiet eddy?
As we head deeper into Autumn, and the holidays spread out before us, now is a good time to remember the importance of
cultivating a healthy balance of activity and stillness in our lives, no matter what time of the year.
It's so easy to get caught up in the fast current of whatever it is that defines the holidays for us. It's so easy to feel overwhelmed by everything holiday related and find sweet solace in the dark, quiet of the
season.
Maybe you find joy in hosting and attending gatherings, gift shopping, giving and receiving, the pursuit of perfection in all things celebratory, or however it looks for you. Maybe you prefer to turn away from all the hustle and bustle, find a quiet place to retreat, snuggle in, and stay there until it's all
over. Â
Both of these have energizing value, and both have the ability to bring on fatigue. One way can be too much and the other can be too little engagement in the world.
With slowing down to notice and activating your will of choice, more conscious balance between the two becomes possible.
It’s a DANCE.
