Bright Light,
Have you ever noticed that the creative process is often a great metaphor for the evolutionary process and creating life in general?
Â
Today's eZine is a bouquet of insights for practitioners, and anyone on a conscious path of Awakening. Â You will find important reminders and takeaways to support your blossoming well-being.Â
Â
Â
Creating art is a rewarding and mostly joyful process for me, that usually involves adding layers of complexity over time. The condensed timeline of this one day workshop highlighted the creative challenges I usually have much longer to work through.Â
Just like other endeavors along Life’s journey, I experienced places in the painting process where I felt lost, couldn’t see how to get where I wanted to go, and just had to keep going until the way became more clear (maybe you can relate).Thankfully, there was help!Â
Â
Shiloh first took us on a guided inner journey and invited us to become our favorite flower. Mine turned out to be a golden, pink, and peach colored Peace Rose.Â
When next she invited us to recall flowers we’ve loved most passionately throughout our lifetime, along with the associated people, places, and events, these beauties flashed through my mind:
- Bright apricot colored California Poppies
- Bermuda Buttercups (Sour Grass) growing out of cracks in the sidewalk in my hometown
- Plump purple and white Lilacs from my dear Godmother JaneÂ
- Luminous divinely scented Gardenias, gifts from soul-sister Renee
I highly recommend this wonderful exercise!
Â
What are some of your favorite flower memories? Â What or who do you remember that filled you with love or delight?
After playing with flower memories and associations we went to our canvases where Shiloh guided us throughout the rest of the day in a layer-by-layer process of learning how to fill our canvases with flowers.Â
Here are my Bold Bloom takeaways:Â
Â
Take Away #1: We need fortification to do what we do. As Coaches and Healers we spend our days accompanying others through the pain of challenge and growth. We need to replenish! Spending time in a like-minded community; immersing in the healing power of Nature; and contemplating the gifts of human kindness and generosity we’ve experienced. These are all are incredibly fortifying soul-vitamins.Â
Â
 Â
Take Away #2: It’s really good to become a student again from time to time. Letting someone else hold space for me to explore like a child was a potent gift I want to allow more often! We were encouraged to write our intentions directly on the canvas. For my inner child, this felt like permission to write on the walls. Along with the insights that came during the workshop, I learned some new painting tips, opening new possibilities that I’m
excited to explore!Â
Â
Â
Take Away #3: Don't give up-ask for help instead. During several stages of this painting process I felt like giving up. Just as in many creative or healing processes we, and our clients, hit phases where we face the temptation to give up, especially if what we are doing doesn't seem to be working. It’s at such moments when we most benefit from the support and expertise of a teacher or guide, someone who's been there and can show the way through
or at least steady us while we find our own way.
Â
 Â
After painting the dark blobs you see at this phase of the painting process above, I felt lost with no idea what to do. Luckily, Shiloh was right there and available to guide. She offered suggestions which helped me move through my impulse to give up and instead, try something I’d never done before. Moving past this stuck
point was streamlined with her guidance and support.Â
Â
Â
Shiloh Sophia (we could be sisters don’t you think?)
Take Away #4: Stay present, let the outcome be a surprise. I’m truly amazed to see the flowers that eventually bloomed on my canvas!!!! It’s definitely not the painting I’d preconceived. Such a great metaphor and reminder to stay present with each step and trust the emergent future to take care of itself.Â
Â
 Â
I hope you enjoyed this bouquet of simple (but not always easy to do) takeaway reminders:
- We need fortification to do what we do.
- It’s really good to become a student again from time to time.
- Don't give up, ask for help instead.
- Stay present, let the outcome be a surprise.Â
What is one thing you can do today to replenish, learn something new, get help with a challenge, and/or allow yourself to be pleasantly surprised?
Â
Here's to your full bloom,Â
